I'm pretty sure I could eat the actual steak in an hour, but not everything else with it.
We stopped and ate at this restaurant that had this 72oz steak. If you ate it with the salad, baked potato, and rolls you got it for free. If you didn't eat it in time it was like $90.

Hurricane Ike!
We made it! There is a lot of flooding and trees down. At the moment we cannot leave our apartment complex because of trees down. We have power but 2 million people are out of power and probably will be for the next couple days. We were told that 96% of the people do not have power, we are in that 4% that does. These were a few pictures of our apartment complex.

Something that inspires me.
Sometimes I go through life doing things on my own. I underestimate how big God is and what He can do. When I get like this I like to listen to some encouraging music and one song comes to mind. Its called Redeemer by Nicole Mullen. When I listen to her sing about God and His capabilities, it puts me back under His wing. I guess it helps a little that she has an amazing voice!
I will share some of the song with you.
Who taught the sun... where to stand in the morning
Who told the ocean... you can only come this far
And who showed the moon... where to hide 'til evening
Who's words alone can catch a falling star?
Well I know, my Redeemer lives
I know my Redeemer lives
All of creation testify
This life within me cries
I know my Redeemer lives.
The very same God, that spins things in orbit
He runs to the weary, the worn and the weak
And the same gentle hands that hold me when I'm broken
They conquered death to bring me victory.
This is just an awesome reminder of God's promise to love and take care of us who follow Him.
If you have not heard this song you need to!
These are a few pictures that we took in Thailand that show just a glimpse of what I'm talking about.

Church 8/24/08
Our pastor said something yesterday that has just been sticking with me. We were talking about keeping God first in our lives and taking Him everywhere. He is always there but sometimes we don't take Him. Our pastor told a story about him and a buddy going to this beautiful island and eating at this amazing restaurant, and it was all great but it was not the same. This environment was meant for him and his wife, not him and his college buddy.
This place was still beautiful but not as beautiful as it could be with his wife. If you don't take God along on your journey through life everything will not be as great as it should/could be.
Anyway, this is what our pastor said " In the land of milk and honey without God, the milk is sour and the honey is bitter"
I like that!

Our pool that is open 24 hours... only because its like 100 degrees all the time!
Fountains!

We are finally kind of settled in!
Amber starts her student teaching on the 19th and I am still looking for a job. I am applying at a few restaurants, so we will see. We love our apartment and the area we live in. It takes a little longer to get places than we are use to, but it is still pretty easy to get around.
The roads around here are kind of crappy. There are bumps and holes everywhere. It is so populated, I don't think they want to close a lane to fix it. Our poor car!
So far we like Texas. I have never been to a place that has so much pride in their state. A lot of adds here have something about how great Texas is. We think its funny.
We will continue to post updates and pictures of our adventures down here in the GREAT state of Texas!
